In my opinion a green job is any job that relates to work, either directly or indirectly, to the endeavor of trying two saves the planet. What that means is that if you work for a company that is trying to be earth conscious, you have a green job. There are jobs that directly relate to being green. This involves planting trees, installing solar panels, and just doing the established green items to help. But if you work for a company that builds solar cells or grows trees for replanting, these are also green jobs.
If you're a coal miner, this would be a tough sell as a green job. This doesn't mean that you can't be a green person but there are some jobs that simply aren't green. There are conditions where you could work at being green in your job without working in a green job. If you are strip miner you could plant trees in your spare time. If you worked for a plastics manufacturer, you could try to correct what you can. If you work for a car company and the company continues to try to work towards a green vehicle, you have a green job. Car dealers can be green with the way they run their dealerships.
I believe that you can make most jobs green. The trick of course is the balance

Let's keep in mind that if we had a major volcanic eruption, we would be in an ice age for years. This would happen overnight and people would be dying from breathing ash, and CO2 would be the least of the hazardous gases on the planet surface. We could not correct this, this too be totally out of our control.
I believe the only thing that this whole movement is attempting to do is to gently get people rethinking how they approach life in general. You may be right, we may need a stronger and more radical voice to get someone's attention! The reality as it sits right now, is that there are dozens of web sites with different names and different users all asking for money and none offering any solutions. Cathy Zoi, the CEO of " we can solve it" and " RE Power America" has never projected anything other than to donate money so she can run ads on TV. We have Van Jones who is busy trying to sell his Book and a number of other people with other agendas that have nothing to do with the task at hand.
If you have a new plan for society, let's hear it! If you've got a job for people who need a job that's going to accomplish what you want to accomplish, let's hear about it.
